Product detailed description
The poster was created as a tribute to the designer Libuše Niklová as part of the 3 x 6 = POSTER poster series.
The series presents six designers who have been with us for the last 10 years of our lives and who have left an indelible mark on the history of Czechoslovakia. We asked three contemporary artists, Michaela Karásek Čejková, Ilona Polanski and Jan Šrámek, to create six original prints, each inspired by the person or product of the designer.
The posters will be on display at the exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague from 12 June to 15 September 2024.
Libuše Niklová (1934-1981) was a Czech toy designer. She created over 230 original toys in many colour variations, such as rubber figures, animals with accordion bodies or inflatable toys. Her work is represented in the collections of museums around the world, including the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Uměleckoprůmyslové museum in Prague. In 2011, she became the first woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in memoriam at the Czech Grand Design Awards.
Michaela Karásek Čejková is a photographer based in Prague. She focuses on fashion and portrait photography, still life and free photographic work. Her work with the technique of classical 3D spatial collage is typical of her style. She sees collage as a means of combining often incompatible worlds, themes or time levels into one image. In 2015 she graduated from the Department of Photography at FAMU in Prague. In 2020 she won the prestigious Czech Grand Design Award in the category Photographer of the Year 2019. She has collaborated with contemporary Czech designers and lifestyle magazines such as Elle Decoration, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. She is also the author of book illustrations and visuals.
