Poster Jiroutek - Michaela Karásek Čejková
Code: 2406019Product detailed description
The poster was created as a tribute to the designer Jiří Jiroutek as part of the 3 x 6 = POSTER poster series.
The series presents six designers who have been with us for the last 10 years of our lives and who have left an indelible mark on the history of Czechoslovakia. We asked three contemporary artists, Michaela Karásek Čejková, Ilona Polanski and Jan Šrámek, to create six original prints, each inspired by the person or product of the designer.
The posters will be on display at the exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague from 12 June to 15 September 2024.
Jiří Jiroutek (1928-2023) Czech furniture designer who worked for many years for Interiér Praha, where he designed the famous U-450 cabinets. For three years he worked as a designer for IKEA in Sweden, where he was chosen directly by the founder Ingvar Kamprad during his visit to Czechoslovakia. Mr Jiroutek was full of energy until the last moments of his life. Every day he sat "at the drawing board", as he said, designing new furniture. This year (2024), on the occasion of the Czech Grand Design Awards, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in memoriam.
