Detailed information

Product detailed description

The poster was created as a tribute to the designer Jindřich Halabala as part of the 3 x 6 = POSTER poster series.

The series presents six designers who have been with us for the last 10 years of our lives and who have left an indelible mark on the history of Czechoslovakia. We asked three contemporary artists, Michaela Karásek Čejková, Ilona Polanski and Jan Šrámek, to create six original prints, each inspired by the person or product of the designer.

The posters will be on display at the exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague from 12 June to 15 September 2024.

Jindřich Halabala (1903-1978) cultivated thousands of households throughout Czechoslovakia with his quality products at affordable prices and made local design famous far beyond the borders of our country.  He worked at the Brno headquarters of UP Závody, where he was chief architect and head of the studio from 1930.

Jan Šrámek, illustrator and teacher. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Brno University of Technology, where he currently runs the video studio together with Martin Mazanc. His work focuses on exploring public space and reflecting on the public's relationship to sculptures and architecture from the socialist era.  He forms an artistic duo with the artist Veronika Vlková. His work has been presented in galleries and festivals around the world. In 2014, he participated in the realisation of the Czechoslovak pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, and for his many years of work as an illustrator, he was awarded the Czech Grand Design Award in 2017 and 2020.
